Odyssey by Daniel Jaśniewski – 6.58
The Odyssey is an anti-road movie shot from a bed-level perspective, in a room next to a busy street. The observation of the microcosm of everyday existence is accompanied by a soundscape composed of acoustic smog. As night falls, urban light pollution also fills the room.

The Motherfucker’s Birthday by Saif Alsaegh – 6.20
Through dancing, the film shows the evil of the dictator and the horror people endure under powerful political leaders. Saddam dances, Bush dances, so what’s left for the Iraqi people except to join in.

The Moon Song: Epilogue to Jacuzzi Magic by Evan Tyler – 9.06
This nine minute video was created as an epilogue to the narrative of “Jacuzzi Magic” — a video artwork that features Toronto-tired and drug addicted, ageing socialite, Kimberly. After a rehabilitative experience in Cuba she returns to Toronto in the pursuit of mental health and self sustainability. Featuring the original music of Polly Say Phalle (Paris, France), this moment in time for our character draws on the void and volume of lifestyle and the inevitability of negotiating the lived and unlived life.

Hot&Wet Loners&Lovers by Pauline Maure – 1.16
80 mini-films up to 1 minute long, in preparation of a 80 minutes mega film about sea, sand, cows and people.

Oh, Look! by Leon Decock – 13:20
The trudging scientists lure nocturnal life with their lamps. We walk around in the dark waiting for animals to appear occasionally; trying to be attentive, but constantly distracted by the lights of city life.
From the disoriented organisms to the ever-present airplanes drifting above, disparate observations at night in an ever more illuminated world.

Honey by Gabrielle Grabowski – 2.25
A woman running from an unknown threat.

Tank by Garath Whyte – 3.34
‘Tank’ is a surreal trip into the internal struggles of a young woman experiencing long-term health issues. The journey emphasises the importance of being compassionate and understanding towards those who are struggling with invisible illnesses. Focussing on how the power of love and acceptance can help those who are suffering.

PART 2

I Am Always Hungry by Sophie Ansell – 3.33
I Am Always Hungry presents stories of vampiric energy exchanges on disappointing dates. Serving up connections between food and intimacy, shame and desire- it examines the monstrous feminine through the lens of appetite.

Utopian Wedding by Daleya Marohn – 10.30
Utopian Wedding is an invitation to a traditional Ethiopian wedding. Smuggling herself into her mother’s past, the filmmaker explores their
complex relationship and the cultural place of marriage.

Soft Rio by Zara Joan Miller – 4.21
Utopian Wedding is an invitation to a traditional Ethiopian wedding. Smuggling herself into her mother’s past, the filmmaker explores their
complex relationship and the cultural place of marriage.

Red Rhythms by Thibault Prevost – 16.52
Ambre is alone on vacation in Corsica. Messages from Sarah, who was supposed to come with her, resurface. As they drift apart, Ambre’s body slowly fades into the landscape.

Now That I Look by Thomas Bennett – 2.59
A harsh, non-linear, 3-minute descent into the holes, gaps and voids of Belfast City. Shot on Kodak Tri-X Super-8 and soundtracked by a cacophony of bells, drones, and sirens, an inner monologue penetrates the confusion as the tension boils.

Fear Irony & Curating in the 90’s by Evan Tyler – 4.36
Miss Priss, Evan Tyler’s cat, lends her fame and caustic wit to this video. An embittered but successful curator, Ms. Priss reminisces over the ebb and flow of her own career, beginning quite brilliantly in the 90s. Touching on the market, being a woman curator, and struggles with substance addiction, the video captures a difficult story from an aloof subject who is poised to get back into the game.

You have no mother! by Yoonseo Lee – 12.55
‘you have no mother’ is the text that appears in Lady Vengeance(2005) directed by Park Chan-Wook. Geumja’s daughter looks at the sky and the clouds turn into the shape of ‘you have no mother’. These three women are a family. They are not blood-related, but rather a ‘chosen family’ that people often refer to these days. I consider family to be a relationship that shares space and humor, so I got jealous of the people who became chosen family. This film started from that jealousy. These three are not the mother, father, the child. However, they are ‘mother, wife, and a man’. They are cute. They go through horrible things with their cuteness. They know how to attack with their cuteness.
