In May 2020 we had to cancel our 10th Oodaaq Festival, a retrospective anniversary edition that wanted to highlight 10 years of video programming with a selection of 100 videos.
This year we still cannot offer festive and convivial events as we would like. So we have changed our event: The Oodaaq Festival loses its F to become « L’Estival Oodaaq, a summer of nomadic and poetic images », with 120 artists from 30 nationalities, in 10 places in Rennes.

VIDEO PROGRAM #1 : OUR EYES WIDE OPEN WITH CLOSED EYELIDS
When our eyes are closed, what do we see? Where does this endless flow of mental images come from? What do they tell us from deep within us? Images keep appearing around us, whether we have our eyes open or closed, whether we are awake or not, they hatch endlessly and haunt our mind.
The videos in this program invite us to follow them on an inner journey beneath the surface of the world, deep in our personal memories. A path is traced, probing the abyss, straight towards the bottom, inside, as beyond, we cannot see anything. And in the lack of seeing appear forms between visible and invisible.

VIDEO #2 PROGRAM : THE SOUND OF THE WORLD IS OVERFLOWING FROM OUR EYES
Let us saturate our eyes once again to appreciate the diversity of the world and its cruel reality.
Let us saturate our ears to hear what surrounds us and overwhelms us. Let us saturate our brains with information, stories, references, amplified realities.
And let’s see a part of the world as it is, with a bang and frontally!
And let us tear this surface of appearances to seek what could be beyond.

The Oodaaq Festival has existed since 2011. Every year, it offers an artistic journey through the city of Rennes. It brings together exhibitions, video art screenings, performances, installations in public space, conferences and round tables around nomadic and poetic images.

The programming of the Oodaaq Festival is divided between an international call for projects, and carte blanche offered to local and international cultural structures.

The call for projects is distributed through our network of artists, international video art festivals and cultural and political partners, by the FRAAP (Federation of Networks and Associations of Plastic Artists), the CNAP (Center National of plastic arts), CIPAC (Federation of contemporary art professionals) and through the network of art schools in Europe.
